On 12.08.2016 Milford Police arrested Debra L. Hughes, 54 of Milford, as part of this investigation.  As this investigation continued it was learned by the investigating officer that Ms. Hughes reportedly was involved with Mr. Thomas in altering the checks in this case.  Ms. Hughes was taken into custody by Milford Police on 12.09.2016 without incident. Ms. Hughes has been charged with 2 counts of Forgery 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Theft, and Receiving Stolen Property.  Ms. Hughes was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $1300.00 unsecured.  Ms. Hughes is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 12.16.2016.

On 12.07.2016 Milford Police arrested Christopher Thomas, 22 of Lincoln, following an investigation into a forgery at a local bank.  On 12.07.2016 Mr. Thomas entered a Milford area bank and attempted to cash a check that appeared suspicious to the bank employee.  Bank staff immediately notified Milford Police and a responding officer investigated the matter further determining the transaction was fraudulent and Mr. Thomas had previously engaged in another fraudulent transaction from the same account on 12.06.2016.  Further investigation also revealed Mr. Thomas was in possession of approximately 11 grams of marijuana.  Mr. Thomas was taken into custody without incident.  Mr. Thomas has been charged with 2 counts of Forgery 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Theft, Attempted Theft, and Receiving Stolen Property.  Mr. Thomas was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $7250.00 unsecured.  Mr. Thomas is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 12.16.2016.
