On 07.25.2017 officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Walmart on North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) to a report of a fraudulent return with illegitimate sales receipts. Investigation revealed a man and a woman were observed on store surveillance picking up discarded sales receipts in the parking lot and eventually entered the store with an empty cart. The pair then selected items that matched the receipts and attempted to return them in exchange for a refund. The pair left the store, but not before the man made threats of bodily harm to a member of Walmart staff. The two then entered a vehicle a attempted to flee from responding officers, but after a brief pursuit the pair were taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle the two used to flee resulted in further property being located that belonged to Walmart and had not been paid for. Bobbie L. Williams, 44 of Rehoboth Beach, and Michael D. Williams, 44 of Millsboro, both were charged as part of this investigation. Ms. Williams has been charged with Conspiracy Third Degree, Shoplifting, Theft By False Pretense, and Use of Illegitimate Retail Sales Receipt. Mr. Williams has been charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Shoplifting, Theft By False Pretense, Use of Illegitimate Retail Sales Receipt, Menacing, and Disorderly Conduct. Ms. Williams was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $4000.00 unsecured. Ms. Williams is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas in August for an arraignment. Mr. Williams is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas in August for a Preliminary Hearing.
