Suspicious Person Results in Burglary Arrest

On 07/29/2017 at approximately 2:05 am, the Milford Police Department Patrol Division was dispatched to the area of General Torbert Dr. Milford, DE 19963 for a report of a suspicious person walking up and down the driveways in the area. Contact was made with the suspicious person, who was identified as Ramon Colon, 23 of Milford, DE.  Colon matched the physical and clothing description of the suspicious person given by the reporting person.  Colon alleged that he walking home.  Officers gave Colon a ride home and learned that he had an undisclosed amount of lose change, U.S. currency, a head lamp, book bag, cell phone and charging cord on his person at the time of contact.

On 07/29/2017 at 1:04 pm, the original reporting person of the suspicious person responded to Milford Police Department and reported that his/her vehicle had been broken into overnight in the same area where Colon was located. The victim advised that an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency, loose change, and a cell phone charger was taken from his vehicle.  Through investigation, it was determined that Colon possessed similar property on his person when he was contacted by police in the early morning hours on 07/29/2017.  A warrant was obtained for Colon in reference to this incident.

On 08/02/2017, Colon was contacted at his residence and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Trespass 3rd Degree, and Theft Under $1500.00 USC (Deprive Person).  He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on $2001.00 unsecured bail with a future court date in Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing.
