Milford Man Arrested For Theft

On 07/25/2017 at approximately 1650 hours, the Milford Police Department Patrol Division began an investigation into a theft of a credit card. It was learned that the victim lost her wallet at the Food Lion located at 951 N DuPont Blvd. Milford, Kent County, DE on 07/24/2017.  The victim advised that she went back to Food Lion on 07/25/2017 and learned that her purse had been turned into the customer service area.  As the victim was inventorying her purse it was learned that her debit card was missing.  It was also learned that the victim was over the age of 62.  Further investigation revealed that a purchase had been made on the card, which was valued at less than $1500.00 on the night of 07/24/2017 at Food Lion in Milford.  Surveillance footage was reviewed and it was determined that a store employee identified as William Dorey 4th, 18 of Milford, DE, was seen using the victim’s debit card to purchase a gift card.  A warrant was obtained for Dorey in reference to this incident.

On 08/04/2017, Dorey turned himself into Milford Police Department and was charged with one count of Theft Under $1500 Where A Victim is 62 Years of Age or Older (Deprive Person). He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $500.00 USC unsecured bail.  He was also issued a no contact order with the victim.  Dorey was ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
