Frederica Man Arrested For Two Area Robberies

On 11/15/2017 at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Milford Police Department Criminal Division was dispatched to the Shore Stop located at 432 Bay Rd. Milford, Kent County, DE 19963, reference to a robbery. Investigation revealed that a white male wearing all black clothing with a black beanie hat and black sunglasses entered into the store and went to purchase a pack of chewing gum. Once the cash drawer was open, the suspect lunged towards the cash drawer and removed an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. The suspect then demanded that the clerk turn over more U.S. Currency and he advised that the clerk would not get hurt. The clerk complied and the suspect fled from the business. As the suspect was fleeing from the business, he entered into a white sedan operated by an unknown subject. Further investigation revealed that Douglas Coppock, 26 of Frederica DE, was responsible for this robbery.

On 11/16/2017, Coppock was taken into custody by Delaware State Police Troop 3. He was charged by Delaware State Police on three unrelated incidents. Coppock was charged by Milford Police Department on the following charges for the robbery investigation at Royal Farms that occurred on 11/15/2017: Robbery 2nd Degree, Theft Under $1500 USC, and Noncompliance With Conditions Of Bond. Coppock was also charged with Robbery 2nd Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree in reference to the Shore Stop Robbery. Coppock had an arraignment through the Justice of the Peace Court and was held on $8000.00 secured bail reference to the Royal Farms Investigation and $7000.00 secured bail on the Shore Stop Investigation. A no contact order was issued between him and the businesses/clerks involved. Coppock was committed to the Department of Correction. He was ordered to appear at a later date in Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing reference to these two investigations.



Milford Police Seek Public Assistance With Robbery Investigation

On 11.15.2017, shortly after midnight, officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Royal Farms in the 100 block of Silicato Parkway to a shoplifting.  Investigation revealed a male reportedly requested to purchase tobacco products, at which time a store employee retrieved the items.  The male suspect then reportedly forcefully took the items from the store employee and fled prior to officers arrival.  Further investigation led to a warrant being obtained for Douglas F. Coppock, 26 of Frederica, for Robbery 2nd Degree, Theft, and Noncompliance With Conditions of Bond.  Milford Police are asking for anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr. Coppock to call 302.422.8081 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.  Tips can also be submitted online at
