Couple Arrested After Child Sex Abuse Investigation

On 11/30/2017, Carlos Gonzalez-Valesquez, 30 of Richmond, VA, was formally charged by the Milford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division following a 2014 child sex abuse investigation.  Through the investigation, it was alleged that Gonzalez-Valesquez sexually abused a female juvenile.  After the initial report was made by the victim, warrants were obtained for Gonzalez-Valesquez, who fled from Delaware and disappeared.  A tip was received in November 2017 advising that Gonzalez-Valesquez was residing in Richmond VA with the victim’s mother, Emma Dorly-Ventura, 38 of Richmond, VA.  Further investigation revealed that the victim’s mother was planning on traveling back to Delaware and taking custody of the victim and moving the victim to Richmond, VA.

With the assistance of the Georgetown Police Department, Dorly-Ventura was located in Georgetown on 11/20/2017 and was taken into custody.  Also on 11/20/2017 with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, Gonzalez-Valesquez was taken into custody at a residence in Richmond VA.

Dorly-Ventura was charged with Attempted To Commit Hindering Prosecution and Attempted To Commit Endangering The Welfare Of A Child (Victim of a Sexual Offense).  She was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $4000.00 USC cash bail.  She was ordered to appear in Sussex County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.

On 11/30/2017, Gonzalez-Valesquez arrived back in Delaware after being extradited from Virginia.  He was formally charged on a Rule 9 warrant out of Sussex County Superior Court for Rape In The First Degree, Sexual Abuse By A Person In A Position Of Trust Second Degree, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child.  He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $50,000 USC secured bail.  He was ordered to appear in Sussex County Superior Court for an arraignment on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.  Further indictments are forthcoming for Gonzalez-Valesquez reference to this case.watermark
