On 02/23/2018 at approximately 1115 hours, the Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Milford Harrington Hwy and Holly Hill Rd. When officers arrived on scene, they located the vehicle in the bushes on the corner of Holly Hill Rd and Milford Harrington Hwy.  Officers made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Lavern Satchell, 48 of Milford, DE.  When contact was made with Satchell, officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Satchell’s breath.  Officers also observed other signs that Satchell was impaired.  From there, officers administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to Satchell as well as a Portable Breath Test and due to the outcome of those tests, Satchell was taken into custody for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.  During a search of Satchell’s vehicle, a bottle of alcohol and marijuana were located inside of the vehicle.  Investigation revealed that Satchell failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Milford Harrington Hwy and Holly Hill Rd and almost struck another vehicle.  Investigation revealed that as Satchell attempted to avoid colliding with the other vehicle, her vehicle struck a small ditch and drove into a small group of trees, which is where officers located the vehicle upon arrival.

Satchell was charged with 4th Offense-Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Failure To Stop At A Red Light, Failure To Have Registration Card In Possession, and Possession of Marijuana (Subsequent Offense).  Satchell had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $7202.00 USC secured bail due to her intoxication.  Further bond information was not available at time of release.
