Motor Vehicle Collision Leads To Multiple Charges For Milford Man

Location Of Incident: North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) and Milford-Harrington Highway (SR 14)

On 03.24.2018 at approximately 9:30 pm an officer on patrol on North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) observed two vehicles stopped on the roadway in the area of Milford-Harrington Highway (SR 14).  The officer made contact with the operators of those vehicles and learned the two were involved in a collision.  Investigation revealed a 2010 GMC SUV was reportedly traveling southbound on North DuPont Boulevard at a high rate of speed, struck a 2004 Mercedes as it sat stationary at the red traffic light.  The operator of the Mercedes was transported to Bayhealth in Milford for treatment for non life threatening injuries.  Further investigation determined the operator of the GMC was reportedly operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  It was also learned by the investigating officer that the operator allegedly discarded alcoholic beverage bottles that were in his vehicle at the time of the collision.   Jean P. Juste, 42 of Milford, was taken into custody and charged with Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Vehicular Assault Second Degree, Driving Vehicle at Unreasonable or Imprudent Speed, Failure to Have Required Insurance, and Hindering Prosecution Suppress Physical Evidence.  Mr. Juste was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $3050.00 unsecured.  Mr. Juste is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 06.06.2018 for an arraignment.
