Released By Sgt. Robert Masten On 08.23.2018   Incident #51.18.5842 @1650 Hours

On 08.22.2018 Milford Police arrested a Houston woman after an investigation into a school bus incident that led to a warrant being obtained.  On 05.31.2018 a Milford Police Department School Resource Officer was notified by a concerned parent about alleged actions by the driver during a ride home from school.  Further investigation determined the driver pulled the bus over near Airport Road and closed the windows, along with the ceiling air vents, causing the temperature in the bus to rise.  This was in response to the students reportedly being too loud.  This resulted in six students reporting heat related symptoms to parents as they arrived home.  The victims range in age from 6-11 years.  After a review of this case by the Delaware Attorney Generals Office a warrant was obtained for Teresa Grunden, 54 of Houston, and she has been charged with six counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  Ms. Grunden was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $1000.00 unsecured, along with no contact orders with the victims.  Ms. Grunden is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Family Court on 09.17.2018 for an arraignment.  The bus was operated by an outside contractor for the Milford School District.  Milford School District assisted throughout the investigation.
