August Vehicle Pursuit Leads To Multiple Charges For New Jersey Man

On 10.25.2018 Milford Police arrested a New Jersey man following an investigation into traffic violations in August.  On 08.30.2018 an officer from the Milford Police Department’s K9 Unit attempted to stop a Hyundai Accent for a registration violation on Rehoboth Boulevard.  The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and a pursuit ensued that led the officer through the east side of Lincoln.  The officer discontinued the pursuit at that time, but further investigation led to a warrant being obtained for Amir M. McMorris, 19 of Mays Landing, NJ, after he was identified as the operator.  Mr. McMorris was taken into custody by the Delaware Capitol Police 10.25.2018 and later turned over to Milford Police.  Mr. McMorris has been charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Terroristic Threatening, Hindering Prosecution, Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop At a Stop Sign, and Unsafe Passing on the Left.  Mr. McMorris was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court#2, where bail was set at $4003.00 secured.  Mr. McMorris was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution.  Mr. McMorris is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 11.01.2018 for a Preliminary Hearing.
