Lincoln Woman Arrested For Assault

On 10/26/2018 at approximately 0847 hours, Milford Police Department Patrol Division was dispatched to a physical altercation in the 200 Block of Bright Way, Brightway Commons, Milford, Kent County, DE. Officers responded to the scene and made contact with both the suspect and the victim.  Officers learned that the suspect had been residing with the victim for a brief time and was moving out from the apartment.  Officers learned that the victim was on the phone with a family member of the suspect, when the suspect became angry and allegedly slapped the phone out of the victim’s hand causing damage to the phone.  The victim then walked away from the suspect and in the process the suspect allegedly threw the victim’s phone at the back of the victim’s head striking the victim in the back of the head.  The victim then made contact with a witness in the area and used the witness’ phone to contact the police.  While the victim was on the phone with the police, the suspect charged the victim and allegedly punched the victim in the nose causing a minor injury.  The victim did not require medical treatment from the assault.  Officers took the suspect identified as Keishae Burton, 21 of Lincoln, DE, into custody.  During a search incident to arrest, Officers located a glass pipe and digital scale in Burton’s possession.

Burton was charged with Assault 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief Under $1000 (Damage Property) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- Marijuana Related (Civil Violation).  Burton had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $1251.00 USC secured bail.  A no contact order was also placed between Burton and the victim.  Burton was ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.
