Incident #:  51-19-3052                                                Reported: March 20, 2019

Location: Brightway Commons Apartment Complex, Milford, Kent County, DE 19963

Released By:  Det. Timothy Maloney on 05/29/2019 at 1453 hours

On 05/21/2019, Kamesha Worthy, 28 of Dover, DE, turned herself into Milford PD on charges related Hindering Prosecution on a pursuit.

The initial incident occurred on 03/20/2019 when Milford PD Officers were on routine patrol. Officers observed a Nissan Altima exiting the Brightway Commons Apartment Complex located off of N Church St., with an equipment violation.  Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle fled from officers.  The pursuit was cancelled due to safety risks to the general public.

Later that night, Ms. Worthy contacted the Milford Police Department and reported that her Nissan Altima had been stolen from Brightway Commons early that evening. Investigation revealed that the stolen motor vehicle was the same vehicle that was involved in the pursuit with officers.  Further investigation revealed that Worthy was allegedly covering for a friend, who used her vehicle in the pursuit with officers.  Due to investigative actions by officers, a warrant was obtained for Worthy for Hindering Prosecution, Provide False Statement To Law Enforcement With Intent To Delay/Hinder Investigation, and Making False Statement/Filing False Report.

On 05/21/2019, Worthy was formally charged on the above warrant. She had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 2, where she was released on her own recognizance.  Worthy was ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing at a later date.

The friend that was involved in the pursuit was identified as Shaquel Bowe, 26 of Felton, DE. He was formally charged with the pursuit and other traffic related offenses on 05/15/2019.
