On 08.11.2019 at approximately 12:12 am, officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Silicato Parkway to a report of a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a Harley-Davidson motorcycle left the roadway and struck a curb, which resulted in injuries for both of the motorcycle’s occupants. Both were transported by EMS staff to the Bayhealth Sussex Campus to be treated for their injuries. The operator was identified as Kyle A. Strickland, 29 of Milford. It was also learned through investigative measures Mr. Strickland was reportedly operating the motorcycle while being impaired. This investigation also revealed Mr. Strickland initially left the scene of the collision and failed to call for medical assistance for his passenger, did not have a valid licence, along with several other violations. Following this investigation a warrant was obtained for Mr. Strickland and on 09.02.2019 he was charged with Vehicular Assault First Degree, Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Injury, Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving Without a Valid License, Failure to Have Insurance Identification, Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Fictitious Registration, Failure to Transfer Title and Registration, Inattentive Driving, two counts of Operating a Motorcycle Without a Helmet and/or Glasses, and No Motorcycle License. Mr. Strickland was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where he was released on his own recognizance. Mr. Strickland is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 09.13.2019 for a Preliminary Hearing.
