Milford Man Arrested On Assault Charges

On 09/19/2019 at approximately 7:34 a.m., Milford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was notified of an assault victim at Bayhealth: Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE.  Detectives responded to Bayhealth: Kent General to interview the victim.  It was learned that the victim resided in the unit block of Cedar Beach Rd. Milford, Sussex County, DE and had been assaulted by the suspect throughout the overnight hours between 09/18/2019 and 09/19/2019.  The victim disclosed to detectives that they had been strangled and struck multiple times by the suspect throughout the evening.  The victim alleged that the suspect allowed them to leave in the morning of 09/19/2019 for work, which is when they responded to Bayhealth: Kent General.  They alleged that prior to that time, the suspect refused to allow them to leave the residence.  Detectives learned that the victim did sustain physical injury from the assault and was treated and released from Bayhealth after the interview.  Detectives learned from the victim that the suspect was Enrico B. Giangiacomo, 22 of Milford, DE.  Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Giangiacomo in reference to this incident.

On 09/19/2019 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Giangiacomo turned himself into Milford PD on the outstanding warrant for his arrest. Giangiacomo was charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Strangulation, and Terroristic Threatening.  Giangiacomo had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $30,000.00 USC cash bail only.  A no contact order was put into place between Giangiacomo and the victim.  Giangiacomo was ordered to appear in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 09/26/2019 at 8:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
