Released By Sgt. Robert Masten On 10.19.2020 Incident #51.20.10662 @0750 Hrs

On 10.16.2020 officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a residence in the 200 block of Southeast 2nd Street to a report of a domestic situation involving a firearm. That investigation resulted in officers needing to contact Brandt L. Craft, 36 of Milford. Mr. Craft failed to exit the residence at the request of the officers. This led to a several hour negotiation for his surrender, which did end peacefully when Mr. Craft elected to comply and exit the home to be taken into custody without incident. This incident resulted in road closures in the area, neighbors being evacuated, and the assistance of Mental Health professionals, the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, Conflict Management, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal. Mr. Craft has been charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Aggravated Menacing. Mr. Craft was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #3 in Georgetown, where bail was set at $82,000.00 cash. Mr. Craft has been committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. Mr. Craft is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 10.21.2020 for a Preliminary Hearing.
