Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Gun and Drug Arrest

On 10/07/2021 at approximately 12:14 a.m., Milford Police Department Patrol Division was dispatched to a check the welfare in the drive through line of McDonalds, located at 653 N. DuPont Blvd. Milford, Kent County, DE 19963.  Officers were advised that there was an unconscious subject that had been sitting in the drive through for approximately 15 minutes.  Officers responded to the McDonalds and located the vehicle.  Officers made contact with the operator, who was unconscious inside the vehicle.  As the officers attempted to wake up the operator, they observed two semi-automatic handguns in the center console area of the vehicle in plain view.  Officers were able to awake the subject and identified him as Bruce E. Worthy Jr., 36 of Greenwood, DE.  Further investigation revealed that Worthy was a person prohibited of possessing a firearm.  Officers seized the two loaded handguns that were in the center console of the vehicle. 

During a search of Worthy, it was discovered that he was in possession of pill bottle that contained approximately 14.8 grams of crack cocaine.  Worthy was also in possession of a large amount of U.S. Currency.  Officers discovered that Worthy was under the influence of alcohol, which was Worthy’s third DUI offense. 

During a further search of Worthy’s vehicle, officers located another loaded semi-automatic handgun and a loaded AK47 pistol concealed inside of a book bag.

Worthy was transported back to Milford PD, where he was charged with 4 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Drug Dealing, 8 counts of Possession, Purchase, Own, or Control of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, 2 counts of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (A Firearm), one count of Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs (3rd Offense), and one count of Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence.  Worthy had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $142,500.00 USC cash bail.  Worthy has a future preliminary hearing scheduled in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.
