Check the Welfare leads to Gun Arrest
On December 19, 2024 at approximately 9:42 a.m., a Milford Police Officer was conducting a follow-up investigation at Royal Farms located in the 500 block of S. DuPont Blvd. Milford, when they observed a male standing at the driver’s door of a truck, slouched over the driver’s seat. Contact was made with the male to check on his wellbeing.
Further investigation, revealed that the male was under the influence of drugs. During a consent search of his vehicle, a loaded handgun was located under the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed that the handgun had been reported stolen in 2015. The male was identified as Edward Collins, 59 of Milford, DE. Furthermore it was discovered that Collins was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Further investigation, revealed that the male was under the influence of drugs. During a consent search of his vehicle, a loaded handgun was located under the driver’s seat. Furthermore it was discovered that Collins was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Collins was charged with:
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm
- Possession, Purchase, Own or Control of a Firearm by Person Prohibited
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm while under the Influence
- Possess, Consume a Controlled Substance without a Prescription
- Driving a Vehicle under the Influence of Drug
Collins went before the Justice of the Peace Court 2, who issued a $25,700 cash bail/intoxication hold. Collins was turned over to the Department of Correction.
