Three Charged Following 4 Month Drug Investigation

On July 28th the Milford Police Department’s Drug Unit and Special Operations Group executed a search warrant in an apartment in the 100 block of Bright Way to complete a 4 month investigation into illegal drug sales.  On July 28th, in the early morning hours, MPD’s Special Operations Group initiated the execution of the search warrant by taking Latonya M. Burton, 38 of Milford, Semaj E. Eley, 19 of Harbeson, and James Eley, 19 of Milford, into custody in the home.  Further investigation led to the seizure of United Stated Currency, heroin, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.  Ms. Burton was charged with Maintaining a Drug Property, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Ms. Burton was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where she was released on $3100.00 unsecured bond.  Ms. Burton is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on August 25th for a Preliminary Hearing.  Semaj E. Eley was charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Semaj E. Eley was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $14,200.00 cash.  Semaj E. Eley is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on August 25th for a Preliminary Hearing.  James Eley was charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  James Eley was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on August 25th for a Preliminary Hearing.
