The Milford Police Department’s K-9 Unit is assigned to the department’s Community Policing Unit however works in conjunction with the department’s Patrol Unit.  The K-9 Unit is responsible for providing support to Patrol Officers across a wide range of incidents including, but not limited to, crowd control, building searches, precautionary presence for in-progress incidents, the locating of person(s) or evidence through the utilization of tracking or article/area searches, officer/handler protection and the apprehension of fleeing criminals.  The K-9 Unit frequently assists the Drug Unit with the search for controlled dangerous substances and works as a supplement to the Milford Police Department’s Special Operations Group for the execution of high-risk arrest and search warrants.
